This NRL tipping Excel template tracks match details, team tips, final scores and standings for the 2026 season. It includes a Match Tracker for up to 100 prepared match rows, automatic correct-tip scoring, and a Leaderboard for four tipsters, entry fees and prize pool shares.

Step-by-step guide
- Start on the Instructions sheet and read the scoring guidance, colour legend and Australian context notes.
- Open Match Tracker and check the prepared match IDs, rounds, dates, venues, cities and team names. Dates use DD/MM/YYYY.
- Enter or update home and away scores in the pale yellow score cells. Scores accept whole numbers from 0 to 100.
- Enter each tip in the Jack Tip, Olivia Tip, Liam Tip and Charlotte Tip columns. Select a team name from the available list, rather than typing a spelling variation.
- Review Winning Team and Match Status. A match stays Scheduled until both scores are entered; once scores are present, the winner is calculated.
- Open Leaderboard to review ranks, correct tips, accuracy, average points per match, entry fees and prize pool share. Change the selected tipster in the snapshot cell to inspect an individual result.
- Before collecting fees or awarding prizes, agree the competition rules and check the relevant Australian gambling, workplace or local competition requirements.

Who uses an NRL tipping Excel tracker in Australia
An NRL tipping tracker suits the person who runs a Friday workplace competition, the club volunteer collecting weekly tips, or a group of mates following every round from Brisbane to Sydney. It is most useful before the first kick-off, when tips need to be locked in, and after each match, when the organiser enters the final score.
A simple workplace pool
Suppose four employees each tip eight matches in a round. The Match Tracker records 32 tips, while the result columns turn each correct selection into 1 point and each incorrect selection into 0. If Jack gets 6 from 8, his accuracy is 75%, and the Leaderboard can label him Leading under its built-in status thresholds.
Running the competition week by week
A treasurer or office manager can enter venue and city details once, then add scores after the match. The sample data shows Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium, Melbourne's AAMI Park and Sydney's BlueBet Stadium, so you can see the intended layout in image 2, the Match Tracker sheet.
Image 1 shows the Instructions sheet, including the 1-point scoring method and pale yellow input guidance. Image 3 shows the Leaderboard, where four tipsters are ranked by correct tips and their entry-fee information is displayed in AUD.
This is a practical season tracker rather than a betting-odds model. It records selected winners and competition results; it does not calculate bookmaker odds, margins, payouts or live NRL results.
Australian rules for NRL tipping competitions and prize money
The workbook notes that the organiser should check gambling, workplace competition and local competition rules before collecting entry fees or awarding prizes. That warning matters because a friendly office pool and a public competition can have different legal and administrative obligations in Australia.
Keep the money trail clear
The Leaderboard includes an optional Entry Fee (AUD), an organiser entry-fee value area and a Prize Pool Share calculation. For example, four people paying $20.00 creates a nominal $80.00 pool before any agreed deductions. Record who paid and what the rules say outside this workbook if you need a complete payment register; the template does not provide one.
Do not treat points as a gambling calculation
The scoring guidance is deliberately simple: 1 point for each correct tip and 0 for each incorrect tip. A scheduled match remains unscored until both scores are entered. The workbook does not determine whether a competition is lawful, whether a permit is required, or how a prize should be distributed.
For a workplace pool, write down the closing time for tips, the tie-break rule and what happens when a match is postponed. For a club or community competition, check the rules that apply in your state or territory before taking money. Keep receipts or a separate register where the pool involves more than four people, because this workbook's Leaderboard is prepared for Jack, Olivia, Liam and Charlotte only.
Use Australian dates as DD/MM/YYYY and keep prize amounts in AUD. Those settings make a $20.00 entry fee clear, but they are not a substitute for checking the competition's legal and tax treatment.
Where NRL tipping records fall apart during the season
The biggest problems in tipping pools are usually administrative rather than mathematical. A missed tip, a score entered in the wrong row or a team name typed differently can change the result and create an argument just when everyone is waiting for the round tally.
Scores and tips get mixed up
If a home score of 24 and away score of 18 is entered against the wrong Match ID, the calculated Winning Team is still internally correct for that row but wrong for the actual fixture. Check the round, date, venue and teams before entering scores. The sample Broncos 24–18 Roosters result shows the intended pattern.
Free-text entries cause silent errors
The tip columns use a list containing 16 team names. Use the selected team name rather than entering variations such as Roosters FC or Souths, otherwise the comparison with Winning Team may return 0 even when the intended tip was correct. A single wrong entry costs one point; across 100 matches, five inconsistent names can materially distort a close leaderboard.
Late matches create false rankings
Do not treat an empty result as an incorrect tip. Until both scores exist, Match Status is Scheduled and the result formula remains blank. Entering a placeholder 0–0 would make a match appear Final and could create a Draw, so leave unplayed scores empty.
Another trap is assuming the ranking resolves ties. Rank is calculated from Correct Tips, but equal scores can produce equal rank values. Agree a tie-break before the season starts rather than manually changing formulas after a $80.00 prize pool is at stake.
How to make the tipping spreadsheet a weekly routine
A tipping workbook works best when you attach it to two fixed moments: a pre-round tip deadline and a post-match score update. For a Thursday-to-Sunday round, collect all tips before the first match, then update scores once matches finish instead of editing the file during the game.
Use a short organiser checklist
- Before the round, check Match ID, round, date, venue and both team names.
- After each match, enter only the final home and away scores in the pale yellow input cells.
- Review Match Status, Correct Tips and the Leaderboard before sending the weekly result.
- Keep a separate payment record if entry fees are collected.
Use the existing filter on Match Tracker to inspect the 100 prepared rows, and keep the top row visible while scrolling. The workbook has no charts on Match Tracker, so use Leaderboard's two charts for the weekly comparison rather than building a second manual summary.
When the file needs extending
If your season needs more than 100 match rows, copy the prepared formulas in columns J:V down to the additional rows and check the references before entering data. A competition with 20 tipsters is also beyond the prepared Leaderboard, which is built for four names; expanding it requires new result ranges and formulas, not just adding names.
Move to software such as a dedicated competition platform when tips arrive from dozens of people, deadlines must be locked automatically, or you need an audit trail of changes. For a four-person pool and 100 rows, a weekly Excel check is usually quicker and easier to control.
